We met in high school and started dating after our chemistry teacher paired us up as lab partners in our junior year. Neither of us did very well in that class, but our relationship has been going strong since we were 16 years old – we’ve now been together for more than half of our lives! We tried long distance dating for our first year of college, but then Kim moved down to Southern California to be closer to Shane. Shane wrote “Marry Me?” in Christmas lights and proposed on Christmas Eve about 6 years after we started dating, and we were married in October of the next year. We surprised everyone at our wedding ceremony by walking down the aisle to the Jame Bond theme song – we even got our pastor to rappel into the service! We moved back to the Bay Area a year after we were married, and we’ve been happily building our lives here ever since.
