Read Our Story

We started dating at the age of 16 and we’ve been a couple for more than half our lives. It was a classic story of opposites attract (Shane is the outgoing one, Kim would rather be reading a book), but we shared the same values and soon found our personalities complemented each other well. We spent our time in high school and college growing up together instead of growing apart.

Shane wrote “Marry Me?” in Christmas lights and proposed on Christmas Eve near the end of our college career, and we were married in October of the next year. We surprised everyone at our wedding ceremony by walking down the aisle to the Jame Bond theme song – we even got our pastor to rappel into the service!

Our faith is a very important aspect of our lives and we’re excited to share God’s love with our child. Our deepest hope is that our child grows up in a family where they know how deeply God loves them.

Our financial situation is very stable. We don’t carry consumer debt and we are able to live in the Bay Area comfortably in a home which we own. We keep to a monthly budget and Shane can’t wait to add a college saving plan to it!

Shane has a thriving business that will allow Kim to stay at home as soon as we have a child. When we need help, our friends and the members of our family who live close by have offered to help out in whatever way we need.

Meet Shane

Shane grew up in the Bay Area and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business from Vanguard University of Southern California in 2010. He’s very involved in the community where he works and lives, and his favorite quote is “A life lived for others is a life worth living” by Albert Einstein. What’s most important to him is to have impact wherever he goes. In his own words:

Having been blessed in so many different ways, I want to share those blessings with others. I do this through involvement in the community. I’m a mentor to a few select individuals in my career. I’m involved in our local Rotary Club, and I use this as an opportunity to give back to the city, the country, and the world. I spend a lot of my time volunteering at the local food bank, and when I can, I also love to travel.”

Meet Kim

Kim grew up the in Bay Area and graduated cum laude from Vanguard University of Southern California with her bachelor’s in psychology in 2010. Kim’s goal for all her relationships is that the people in her life know that she’s always there for them when they need support. She has a small circle of supportive friends and a very deep relationship with her younger sisters. In her own words:

“I love coffee, reading, cooking, traveling, animals, and hockey (go Sharks!). I’m also a bit of a geek; Harry Potter, Dr. Who, and Jane Austen will always have a place in my heart. I love being around kids, and I’ve worked with children (babies through high schoolers) in a variety of settings – both paid and volunteer positions. I’ve dreamt of being a mom for as long as I can remember, and there is nothing I look forward to more than giving my love and support to a child.”
