Shane’s Family: “My parents divorced when I was a baby and I lived with my dad Ken full time, but spent the weekends with my mom Lizz and half-sister Shannon. My dad has always been the guiding light in my life, and he continues to offer advice and guidance whenever I need it. My dad and sister live in the area and I try to see them as often as possible. My mom lives out of state, so we talk on the phone about once a week and try our best to get together to celebrate the holidays. My entire family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins, can’t wait for me to become a dad, and they’ve already offered to babysit whenever we need.”
Kim’s Family: I feel very fortunate to have grown up in a big family and to have had such close relationships with my great-grandparents and great-aunts. My parents divorced when I was 12 years old and after that I lived mainly with my mom Joanne and my 3 younger siblings, but got to spend time with my dad and grandparents on the weekends. My younger sisters, Katie and Ana, live out of state, but my brother Chris and his wife Chantell live nearby. Katie and her husband Zander became first time parents in January of 2020, and my whole family is very excited for us to become parents through adoption!
