Hey everyone,
We know it’s been a while since we posted and we wanted to let you all know how things are going.
Our adoption profile has been shown to a few different expectant mothers but we haven’t been matched yet. The average wait time for a domestic infant adoption is somewhere between 12 – 18 months. We’ve had our home study completed since January, so we’ve been waiting about 10 months at this point. Which means we’re most likely more than halfway through the wait!
In the meantime, we’ve been keeping ourselves busy:
I’ve started a new job, and it’s the most challenging job I’ve ever had. But I’m learning and growing a lot, and I’m thankful for this opportunity. When I have some spare time I read, walk the dog, cook, and keep up with my garden (we’ve grown 9 pumpkins so far, with more on the way!). Shane’s as busy as ever with work, and he’s recently taken a few woodworking classes. So far he’s made a spice rack for our kitchen! Next up is a charcuterie board.
We’ve also been doing some continuing education classes through our agency: A few weeks ago we took an infant care class where we learned all about infant sleeping patterns, feeding tips, current car seat regulations (did you know car seats have expiration dates?!), the trillion different ways to hold a baby to relieve every type of pain imaginable, and even how to hand an infant to someone else in the safest way possible (just to list a few).
Also, our 10 year wedding anniversary was Thursday, 10/3! To celebrate, we took a vacation to Maui, and we just got back late last night – it was such a great trip!
We’ll continue to keep everyone posted on the adoption, but please feel free to ask us if you’re ever curious. Thank you for all of your love, support, and encouragement. If you’re looking for other ways to help us, read more here.

Happy Anniversary you two. Seems like you’re having a great time exploring. Hope everything works out for you regarding the adoption.
Cheers!
