Hey everyone,
Thanks to all of you who’ve liked and followed our Facebook page and/or our website – the love and support that has been flowing in has been amazing!
We’ve been getting a lot of “how’s the adoption going?” questions – For the curious, we’re waiting to be matched with an expectant mother at this point.
Our agency has our adoption profile books, and they have been giving them out to expectant mothers who are considering making an adoption plan. When an expectant mother likes what she sees in our profile, she’ll request to meet with us to get to know us more. Our agency will call us and provide a little info about the expectant mother – If we also want to proceed with the meeting, the social worker from our agency will schedule it. If both sides want to continue with an adoption plan after meeting each other, we’ll be “matched”.
These meetings generally happen in the mother’s 3rd trimester, so we’d get a few months to plan for the arrival. Sometimes the match can happen earlier than this (meaning we’d have longer to plan), and there’s always the possibility of getting a hospital call, but we expect to be matched with an expectant mother sometime in her third trimester because it is the most common situation.
To keep ourselves busy, we’re going on vacation next week (hello Canary Islands!), rooting for the Sharks as they move into round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, taking some fun classes (Kim is enrolled in a Saturday morning gardening class and Shane is thinking of taking a woodworking class), and spending our days with our pets.
If you’re wondering how you can help us in this time of waiting, keep your ears open – If you know or hear of anyone who is thinking about making an adoption plan for their child, please think of us and call us or forward our contact information. We’ve talked about even more ways you can help here.
As always, thank you for all the love and support!
